Ferrochromium is an iron alloy with chromium and iron as the main components and is one of the main alloying agents used in the iron and steel industry. Adding ferrochromium to steel can significantly improve steel’s oxidation resistance and increase steel’s corrosion resistance. As an additive in steelmaking, ferrochromium alloys can produce a variety of high-strength, corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant, high-temperature, and oxidation-resistant special steels such as stainless steel, acid-resistant steel, heat-resistant steel, ball-bearing steel, spring steel, tool steel, etc.

Ferrochromium
The raw materials for smelting ferrochromium are chrome ore, coke, and silica. There are two commonly used methods for smelting ferrochromium. One is using a blast furnace to smelt ferrochromium. It has the advantages of high output and low production cost of ferrochromium. When smelting ferrochromium in the blast furnace, coke is usually used as fuel for smelting. The other is using an electric arc furnace to smelt ferrochromium. The electric arc furnace is mainly used to produce ferrochromium products such as reducing agents. High voltage heating is used to make the metallurgical materials fully chemically react to produce ferrochromium products. The electric arc furnace smelting method has the advantages of fast heating, high temperature, and low energy consumption The benefits of ferrochromium smelting time, but the use of electric energy, as the price of electricity is getting higher and higher, the manufacturers using the electric arc furnace production method are generally located in Inner Mongolia and other areas with slightly cheaper electricity prices. Among them, the use of electric furnaces to smelt ferroalloy products has gradually replaced blast furnaces. The main reason is that electricity used in electric furnaces is the cleanest energy source. Others like coal, oil, and natural gas will inevitably contain a certain amount of impurities in the smelted ferrochromium in the production process. Only electric furnaces can produce pure taste of ferroalloy.

Ferrochrome Export
Ferro chrome is divided into high-carbon, medium-carbon, low-carbon, and micro-carbon ferrochrome according to the carbon content. The carbon content of high carbon ferrochrome is 4 to 10, the carbon content of medium carbon ferrochrome is 0.5-4, the carbon content of low carbon ferrochrome is 0.15-0.5, and the carbon content of micro-carbon ferrochrome is 0.15 or less. High-carbon ferrochromium is also known as carbon ferrochromium, and medium, low and micro-carbon ferrochromium is also called refined ferrochromium.
