Low aluminum ferrosilicon powder is a ferroalloy composed of iron and silicon. Since silicon and oxygen can efficiently synthesize silicon dioxide, ferrosilicon is often used as a deoxidizer in steelmaking. At the same time, a large amount of heat is released during the formation of silicon dioxide. At the same time, increasing the temperature of molten steel is also beneficial. At the same time, low-alumina ferrosilicon powder can also be used as an alloy element additive, widely used in low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel, electrical silicon steel, etc. Low-alumina ferrosilicon powder is used in ferroalloy production and the chemical industry and is often used as a reducing agent.
Low-alumina ferrosilicon powder is smelted from coke, steel shavings, and quartz (or silica) in an electric furnace. When ferrosilicon is refined in the traditional way, silicon is reduced from silicon dioxide containing silicon dioxide. Metallurgical coke is mostly used as a reducing agent in ferrosilicon smelting, and steel scrap is a regulator of ferrosilicon.
Raw materials and power consumption for producing 1 ton of low-alumina ferrosilicon powder are 1780kg-1850kg of silica, 890kg-930kg of coke, 220kg-230kg of scrap steel, 45kg-55kg of electrode paste, and 8500kwh/t of electricity.
The main raw materials for producing low-alumina ferrosilicon powder are silica and coke, both of which contain impurities, so a certain amount of alumina must be added to the charge. Calculations and production practices show that 56% to 72% of the aluminum in the alloy comes from coke. Therefore, in order to improve the competitiveness of the company’s products, the production process is continuously improved.
